Dr. Faran Awais Butt received the B.Sc. degree in electrical engineering from the University of Engineering and Technology (UET) Lahore, Lahore, Pakistan, in 2009, and the master’s degree in computer engineering from the Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS), in 2012. From 2018 to 2019, he worked as a Visiting Researcher at the Radar Group, University College London (UCL), London, U.K. He is currently working as an Assistant Professor with the University of Management and Technology (UMT), Pakistan. He was also associated with the Center for Global and Strategic Studies, Islamabad, as a member board of experts in electronic warfare and communications from Jan 2021 till March 2022. He has more than ten years of experience in academia and research. He has published a number of research articles worldwide in different conferences and journals. He also won a U.S. patent in radar signal processing in year 2015. His research interests include communication systems, radar systems, 5G and optimization. He also won the Young Leaders Development Award and the Research Productivity Award from Ministry of Planning, Division and Reforms and Ministry of Science and Technology in year 2016 and 2017, respectively. He also won research excellence award from his university in year 2022. He is actively involved in collaborative R&D projects with industry and academia worldwide.
He is a reviewer of a number of renowned journals in his areas of research.
