On 14 December 2022, Mr. Khalid Taimur Akram, Executive Director, Pakistan Research Center for a Community with Shared Future (PRCCSF) had a detailed meeting with Mr. Askar Kuanyshevich Umarov, Director of the Central Communication Service under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
During the meeting at Astana-Kazakhstan, both parties discussed various important topics, including regional connectivity and how to enhance Pakistan and Kazakhstan role in this process of regionalism. The relevance of BRI was also discussed as Kazakhstan is a landlocked state. Thus, BRI can serve the country well in order to extend its global outreach towards warm water for increasing trade and cooperation.
Both sides also discussed to enhance research cooperation in various fields. It was affirmed that cultural cooperation is important for fostering people-to-people contacts. It was also discussed that joint issues must be resolved through an integrated regional framework that can be beneficial for all states involved.
Pakistan and Kazakhstan have much potential for increasing economic and trade collaboration under new projects and transit routes. Thus, the leadership of both nations can play a dynamic role for reviving Central-South Asian regional connectivity.
