2nd International Conference on “Belt and Road- Green Development and Green Winter Olympics under the trend of Global Carbon Neutrality”

On 26th November 2021, the second International Conference on “Belt and Road- Green Development and Green Winter Olympics under the trend of Global Carbon Neutrality” was held. The program incorporated presentations and analysis by renowned subject experts on Low Carbon Development and Opportunities, Belt and Road Green and Sustainable Development, Belt and Road Traditional Energy Cooperation and Transformation under the Trend of Carbon Neutrality were shared.
From Pakistan, Mr. Khalid Taimur Akram, Executive Director, Pakistan Research Center for a Community with Shared Future, Communication University of China, Beijing, China and Member, Global Advisory Board, The National Academy of Belt & Road, Green Development, China International, Culture Exchange Center, Beijing, China participated and shared views on “Clean, Green and Resilient world: sustainable policies and global cooperation”. Mr. Khalid, during his speech, stated that there is a surge in the demands to have more inclusive and sustainable policies for environment protection. Emerging Non-traditional security challenges, especially, water scarcity, climate change and environmental degradation have become the subject of high importance. Every state is striving to lower the devastating repercussions of climate change and CO2 emissions. Rapid industrialization to meet economic goals have increased in huge Carbon emission that are polluting our environment. This indicates a need to work for a clean, green, and resilient world.
Furthermore, he mentioned that a healthy environment is necessary for human sustenance. No state is immune from environmental risks. Climate change has been jeopardizing human survival. Thereby, constructive engagement is necessary for green development and low-carbon economy. These menaces need a collective response at regional and global level, with robust policy mechanism in order to work for a better world and cope threats.
Mr. Khalid also mentioned that it has become significant for the global community to join hands and work collectively for the development of green and clean world. The evolution of global energy consumption trends, shows that the goal of green, low-carbon and resilient world, call for preserving and protecting the natural environment.
The Online International Conference was attended by speakers from China, Indonesia, Thailand, United States, Russia, UAE, and many other countries of the world.
