Six weeks On-Campus Internship Program for the Under-Grad Students of Bahria University organized by Pakistan Research Center for a Community with Shared Future (PRCCSF), Islamabad.
The internship program aims at familiarizing the students of International Relations with the changing dynamics of the country and the region. The program ensures the exposure of students to the relevant institutions and individuals.
Lt Gen Naeem Khalid Lodhi (Retd), Senior Member Advisory Board, PRCCSF & Former Federal Defense Minister of Pakistan was invited to deliver a lecture and interact with the interns.
During his lecture he discussed Relationship of Power Potential and Foreign Policy. He highlighted the hierarchy of policies and strategies and explained the concept and importance of National interest. He also discussed the Concept of sovereignty of country and emphasized that the more powerful a nation, the more sovereign a country will be.
He discussed the preamble of constitution of Pakistan and stated at it is the will of the people of the Pakistan to establish order, moreover the principles of democracy like freedom, equality, tolerance and social justice, as enunciated by Islam, shall be fully observed.
He said that National interests are vital, important and peripheral. He explained about Supreme national interest and protection and said national interest is the protection and welfare of the people.
Furthermore, he explained the national policies and main elements of National power potential.
He explained power, nation and its elements and also suggested policy recommendations for effective foreign policy.
The session was moderated by Ms. Haleema Asad, Student of 7th Semester, Bahria Universiry, Islamabad.
It was followed by an interactive session in which students asked questions related to foreign policy and its formulation.
