PESHAWAR: Shaheed Benzazir Bhutto Women University (SBBWU) Peshawar hosted a One Day International Conference on 23 November 2023, commemorating the remarkable success of the Belt and Road Initiative over the past decade.
This collaborative effort between Department of Political Science, Department of History and Pakistan Studies and Monitoring and Affiliation Section SBBWU Peshawar, the Institute of Community with Shared Future at Communication University of China (CUC) Beijing, and the Embassy of the People's Republic of China to Pakistan, marked a significant milestone in fostering international cooperation. The conference was also supported by Pakistan Research Center for a Community with Shared Future (PRCCSF).
The conference commenced with opening remarks by Dr. Zarmena Baloch Assistant Professor Department of Political science at SBBWU Peshawar, setting the tone for a day filled with insightful discussions.
Notably, Professor Li Huailiang, Dean of the Institute for a Community with Shared Future at Communication University of China, delivered a compelling speech online, shedding light on the fundamental objectives of the program. The virtual platform also hosted Professor Dr. Zhang Yanqui, Deputy Dean of the Institute of Community with Shared Future at Communication University of China, who enriched the audience with valuable insights.
Dr Hina Shahid from Fedral University Islamabad in her speech expressed that over the past ten years, the BRI has emerged as a beacon of collaboration, connecting nations and fostering economic development on an unprecedented scale. As we celebrate this decade of transformation, it is crucial to acknowledge the tireless efforts and visionary leadership that have propelled this initiative forward.
Dr Sumaira Noreen Associate Professor and Chair Person Department of history Lahore College for Women University give her detailed insight about the Belt and Road Initiative and the concept of community with shared future from Historical Perspective. She expressed that BRI is too important for Asian Countries from global economy and global development perspective.
Mr. Khalid Taimur Akram, Executive Director of Pakistan Research for the Community with Shared Future Communication (PRCCSF) Islamabad, addressed the audience, emphasizing the importance of the initiative and highlighting upcoming opportunities for collaboration with the Communication University of China.
Dr. Sumaira Gul, Head of the Department of Political Science at SBBWU Peshawar, explained in details the journey of article writing competition and the process of selection of top seven articles among all. She outlined the significant contributions and achievements of the institution in support of the Belt and Road Initiative.
The event also showcased the outstanding work of seven article competition winners from SBBWU Peshawar, further underscoring the academic excellence and commitment to scholarly achievements within the institution.
The conference concluded with closing remarks and vote of thanks from Dr Hamida Bibi, Head of Department of History and Pakistan studies SBBWU Peshawar, followed by an awards distribution ceremony honoring the winners of the article competition.
