On 10th October 2024, Mr. Khalid Taimur Akram was invited as a speaker at the roundtable "Pre SCO Moot: Building Bridges for Regional Connectivity & Partnerships" jointly organized by China Media Group (CMG) and the Institute of Regional Studies (IRS) in Islamabad. The participants discussed the importance of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) and provided suggestions and recommendations for the upcoming SCO Summit in Pakistan, scheduled for 15-16 October 2024. Mr. Qaiser Ahmed Sheikh, Federal Minister for Maritime Affairs, and Mr. Attaullah Tarar, Federal Minister for Information & Broadcasting, also participated in the roundtable discussion. They briefed the participants and audience on the government's efforts and preparations in various sectors for the upcoming mega SCO summit. Both ministers emphasized how regional cooperation could be strengthened and new avenues for collaboration explored, considering Pakistan's vast potential in light of existing challenges. The roundtable included 15 to 16 speakers from diverse backgrounds, such as parliamentarians, former diplomats, policy experts, academics, journalists, businesspeople, and representatives from civil society, who engaged in discussions regarding the upcoming SCO summit in Pakistan.
